Introduction

Corpus Christi School has been under the direction of the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians (also known as the Salesian Sisters of St. John Bosco), since its establishment in 1959. Corpus Christi is a non-profit, Roman Catholic, parish-sponsored elementary school comprised of students from pre-kindergarten through grade eight.

The Salesian Sisters and lay faculty who staff our school are guided by a curriculum developed by the Archdiocese of New York in alignment with the New York State. Our principal is responsible for the effective operation of the school and answers directly to the pastor.

Corpus Christi School continues to re-evaluate and assess its goals as set forth in our Middle States Accreditation plan.

With all class sizes conducive to learning with ample student-teacher ratio, Corpus Christi emphasizes the basics in education. This is complemented not only by caring instructors but also by the latest in teaching methods. Computer technology is integrated with all subjects and smart boards have now been introduced. Our educational philosophy comes from the teachings of St. John Bosco who practiced “reason, morals and caring kindness”.

Complementing our excellent academic program, Corpus Christi offers a splendid fine arts program. In addition to art and drama, we offer band, choir and music appreciation. While the children are primarily cared for by our excellent teaching staff, they are surrounded by a strong support staff. Our Parent Teacher Organization plays an important role in the school, as does the Salesian Sisters and Priests.

We are a team. We don’t just teach. We educate! Corpus Christi believes in the education of the “whole child”. Along with the parents, we seek to educate the child intellectually, socially, physically, morally and spiritually. Nothing is left out. We educate the “whole child”. We educate for life.
